This module introduces some of the key concepts that have prompted the development of WorkWORLD software. It describes potential uses and broad impacts of the software, including how it may contribute to the development of a national knowledge-based decision support network.
FOCUS OF THE DISTANCE TRAINING PROGRAM
This module describes the Employment Support Institute's plans for developing the distance training program in stages and describes the focus of the first training module, which explains how WorkWORLD software can be used as a decision support tool, a case management tool, and an educational resource regarding Social Security and other disability and poverty program rules and benefits calculations.

This module explains how to acquire WorkWORLD by completing the "User Agreement" posted on the WorkWORLD website and then either downloading the software or ordering the WorkWORLD CD from ESI.

This module describes accessibility features of the current distance learning program and describes future plans to develop media to enhance accessibility of future distance learning modules.
HOW IS WorkWORLD USED BY BENEFITS COUNSELORS AND REHABILITATION PROFESSIONALS?
This module describes how benefits counselors currently use WorkWORLD as a technical aid to allow them and the people with disabilities they are assisting explore work incentive options and to construct short-term and longer-term plans for increased earnings and progress toward self-sufficiency.
HOW IS WorkWORLD USED BY CONSUMERS, PARENTS, AND ADVOCATES?
This module explains how individuals and parents may use the information and recommendations available through WorkWORLD to make informed choices about independent living, employment, social benefits, and health care at the time of important life transitions. It provides a specific case example about a young woman who uses WorkWORLD to consider options at significant transition points in her education, career, and living situation.
HOW IS WorkWORLD USED BY "TICKET TO WORK" ADVISORS AND ONE STOP CENTER PERSONNEL?
This module describes practical uses for WorkWORLD in the rapidly evolving field of disability, rehabilitation, and employment. It covers ways WorkWORLD may be used for developing individual work plans for both long term planning and for examining the impact of short-term adjustments, like changes in hourly wages. A specific case example is provided about a man who uses WorkWORLD to consider his options as he makes plans to return to work.
HOW DOES WorkWORLD ADDRESS RECENT LEGISLATIVE INITIATIVES?
This module discusses the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act and describes how decision support software offers one of the most effective ways to manage the majority of complex interacting policies related to work incentives and benefits.
WHAT IS THE CURRENT WORKWORLD DECISION SUPPORT CAPABILITY?
This module focuses on WorkWORLD's current capabilities, including information in the Help/Information system.
WHAT CAN WorkWORLD BRING TO THE FUTURE?
This module describes ESI's vision for a national decision support system that promotes increased consumer-direct use of the software, a web-enabled process for making the software available, and a process for customizing the software with state-specific information.
