HOW DOES THE SOFTWARE WORK?

We encourage you to visit the menu item, "What is WorkWORLD?", at our website (http://WWW.WORKWORLD.ORG/WhatIsWW.html). This link explains the basic functions of the software, using a sample consumer profile to illustrate screen features.

WorkWORLD's interface is explained using example screens from the software to illustrate inputs (Current Situation questions and New Situation options) and outputs (Results shown in numerical, graphic, and text formats). This material will give you a sense of WorkWORLD's capacities and will give you a basic idea about its many uses.

Generally, the following process is followed to use WorkWORLD to explore potential decision paths:

WorkWORLD's interface is split into two main areas: the input area and the results area. Within the input area, WorkWORLD asks the user a series of questions specific to his current situation. Each new question is based on previous answers in order to make the process as simple as possible. It is necessary to answer all questions in the input area.

Accurate current situation data is required for the software to provide complete and reliable information in the results area. Take time to include all required input data and be sure to answer all questions. If specific questions are left blank, WorkWORLD will give the "Incomplete Situation" alert: "This situation requires further questions to be answered before valid outputs can be calculated".

Once all the questions have been answered a set of results are generated. Results appear in numerical, graphic, and text formats. The numerical results show benefits, earned and unearned income, and expenses in tabular form for each situation. These results are available for viewing graphically in several ways for greater understanding. Additionally, text results provide warnings, notes, and recommendations related to the circumstances entered in a situation.

The WorkWORLD user can choose to make changes from their current situation to test what may happen in the future in a "What-If?" situation. For example, a person may want to see the effect of a PASS recommendation. The PASS is entered as a new situation based on the original entry, allowing for easy comparison between the current and future situation.

Only the changed items require entry while other items automatically carry over and the benefit change computes automatically.

Users may create any number of changes and compare the results. WorkWORLD provides a "Choose Situation" menu box when you wish to explore a new situation. The box lists all the situations that have previously been entered in the software and asks, "Please choose a situation to base your new What-If Situation on". You can select any of the previous situations and the new situation outputs will be based on it.
