Veterans Affairs (VA) Benefits - Improved Pension Amount

The Improved Pension Program provides for the maximum annual rates shown in the table below. The payment is reduced by the amount of the countable income of the veteran and the income of the spouse or dependent children. Effective 01/01/2008, the Child Earned Income Exclusion amount is $8,950.

These maximum yearly rates change annually on December 1. The rates shown below are effective December 1, 2007 through November 30, 2008.

Veteran needing regular aid and attendance	18,654

Two veterans married to one another	14,643
Veterans of World War I and Mexican Border Period, addition to the applicable annual rate	2,538
Increase for each additional dependent child	1,909
